SCOPE OF APPLICATION
It is widely used for the inspection of pre-packaged bulk food products—such as nuts, grains, corn kernels, raisins, sunflower seeds, and goji berries. Using X-ray technology, it detects hard foreign objects—including small stones, metal fragments, and glass—mixed into the product and removes them via an air-blast rejection system. This method minimizes material loss by ensuring only the contaminated items are rejected, and the system is capable of processing 2 to 6 tons of bulk material per hour.
SAMPLE INSPECTION EXAMPLE
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The bulk food material X-ray foreign object detection machine is designed for bulk food materials such as granules and flakes. It adopts high-penetration X-ray scanning technology and intelligent image recognition algorithm, which can quickly and stably detect and automatically sort out hard foreign objects such as metal, stones, and glass mixed in with the product.
PRODUCT FEATURES
2–6 Tons/Hour:High-throughput inspection for bulk products.
Air Ejection Rejection:Fast rejection with minimal product loss.
Safe X-ray Protection:X-ray leakage < 1 μSv/h for safe operation.
Food-Safe Radiation:Radiation level < 1 Gy for food inspection.
Smart HMI & Self-Learning:Stores and presets parameters for up to 100 products.
17" Touchscreen:Full-color HMI with remote assistance support.
Easy-Clean Conveyor:Quick disassembly for easy cleaning and maintenance.
304 Stainless Steel:Durable, hygienic construction for food processing.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
The Food bulk-material X-ray foreign object detection machine operates based on imaging technology that leverages the penetrative properties of X-rays and differences in material density: bulk materials are uniformly spread across a conveyor belt by a vibrator, while an X-ray source emits high-energy rays that penetrate the material layer. Because normal materials and high-density foreign objects (such as metal, glass, stones, bones, etc.) absorb X-rays to varying degrees, a detector positioned beneath the conveyor belt captures the transmitted X-ray signals and converts them into a grayscale image—whereby areas of higher density appear as darker shades within the image.
Utilizing image recognition algorithms, the system performs real-time analysis of grayscale images to precisely identify areas of abnormal density and pinpoint the exact location of foreign objects. Upon detecting a foreign object, the control system automatically activates the appropriate rejection mechanism—selected based on the size and quantity of the contaminants (ranging from high-pressure air jets for small, dispersed objects to flap-gate mechanisms for large or bulky items, and multi-channel zonal systems for precision removal). This process segregates the contaminated material into a waste collection bin while allowing defect-free products to pass through unimpeded, thereby ensuring product safety at the source during the raw material stage.
